FARMING PROGRAM

OBJECTIVES OF THE FARMING PROGRAMME

The objective of the farming programme are: Equity and redress of hostoric imbalances by propviding a vehicle for local economic development for PDI ( Previously Disfrenchised Individual) living in the surrounds of targeted towns and productions nodes.

Food security by producing acceptable quality of nutritional output that will go a long way in creating a healthier society , most importantly by addressing food shortages leading to poverty alleviation. Nation building by providing a platform to ensure the support and success of organic farming , a clean environment , support to municipal structures and bridging the communication gaps between govenment, environmental group, non-govenrment sectorr partners, ptivate sectors and communities.

Job creation by ensuring long term success of ventures and as an ongoing generation opportunity. futher jobs will be created as those equipped with knowledge and skills in organic farming go on to impart the same skills to their various communities.

Capacity building and skills transfer by the management team and implementing agents by creating vehicles to support and nuture the skills at local level, through a training and mentorship programme.

SHORT SYNOPSIS ON WHAT THE PROJECT IS ABOUT 

BISHOPSTOWE:

The farming is currently running a piggery project and there have been development from other groups who have interest in farm to utilise the farm as a training institute from argriculture skills training

 

 

APPELSBOSCH

The project is a vegetable farming enerprise practising hydroponic farming and open field vegetable farming. Currently the project as seven tunnels on site, arable land for open field. The beneficiaries of the project is a cooperative called Ubuhle Bemvelo6 primary cooperative, which is an initiative by KZNCC and a local lutheran church. The project is financially supported by IDC and coordinated by KZNCC.
